OLD & NEW

Old and new elements together can create an overall harmony between different design periods.
It all depends on the impact people want to make. "Eclectic" is a popular adjective in interior design parlance, meaning a decor that comprises miscellaneous elements ;a mixture of textures, time periods, colors, styles and trend. However, there's a fine line between an appealing eclectic room and a room that is merely perfunctory and cursory, with no unifying themes or motifs.

;glass panels are used in lieu of old windows.

;wood table are used in lieu of modern table.

These images capture eclectic decorating at its best. To put it more simply, these are rooms that marry old and new, antique and contemporary. For example, the modern sofa may be paired with a wood table so as to highlight; through contrast. Eclectic decorating also appeals to me because of my evolving taste and whims.

Here are also some unique examples of eclectic spaces and the incorporated elements that are old and new. It is a very classy and elegant space and also, a great example of a more subtle eclectic design with muted colors.

This really shows how the possibilities are endless as far as incorporating different elements from the around the world and different time periods. Old and new pieces can be introduced into people's homes in so many different ways; be it a subtle look, or an exciting statement.
