EXHIBITION
The characteristic of these modern architectures is using
gloss or different building materials, such as alloy, stainless steel, mirror glass,
plastics, coatings, etc. In the 1950 s, New York Lever House Company spent a large
amount of money building a glass tower. During the day, the building's glass
and steel are glistening in the sun; while in the night, it’s like a beacon in
the darkness, which makes people at that time pleasantly surprised. The outdoor
walls of Grass Month Club in Tokyo, Japan were all built with blue mirror
glass, with its beauty the reflected with sunshine and clouds and combined with
the surroundings. This building greatly beautifies the city, and makes those
skyscrapers dwarfed. I think the emergence of these buildings mostly is because
of the intensive commercial competition, in order to highlight the advertising
effectiveness. Actually, in China, there's a lot construction of western style,
but my idea is to connect Chinese classical architecture with modern
architecture, such as adding traditional elements dragon, phoenix and kneading
sculpture art into Chinese modern architecture.
Secondly,
I also found a special feature. Designers like expressing their buildings with
various shapes, such as Elephant Mansion and the Lithuania building Paper
Mansion. It’s like a jigsaw puzzle when put together. The in the United States
.Seed Cathedral of Shanghai I have seen in the exhibition hall, is consist of 60
000 transparent optical fiber whose length is 7.5 meters. At the top of each
optical fiber there is a seed which gives people a quiet space to think about
the origin of plants. When looking at it, it’s like a hedgehog. These buildings
are full of interests. It enlightens me that adding something interesting like
them in our apartments. It might give rise to a large number of investors. Cottages
built in various shapes on the prairie may become a popular attraction.
The
Study Building in Nanyang Technological University also gives me a lot of
inspiration. School has the flavor of city. Can our work building also be more
interesting? These external conditions can make students or white-collar work
better or study better. Different atmosphere and environment make people have
different mood. I think these designs can greatly improve the efficiency.
